John Anderson Silk Daisy Print Day Dress

This silk day dress is by John Anderson. The dress has a pleated motif and is of very fine silk, chosen for its suitability to hot climates, printed in fuchsia daises with yellow centres. There is a wide-brimmed fuchsia silk hat trimmed with silk in the same design as the dress.



On 4 August 1998, the Queen chose the dress and jacket to pose for a family photograph outside Clarence House on the Queen Mother's 98th birthday. She wore the Cullinan V brooch:


The outfit was worn again on 20 September 1998, when departing Brunei International Airport en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, paired with cream accessories and one of Queen Victoria's bow brooches:

On 12 May 1999, the Queen wore the dress and jacket to meet Queen Rania of Jordan at Buckingham Palace. The Jardine Star brooch was worn:


Then, on 8 November 1999, the Queen repeated the outfit on a visit to Accra, Ghana, to attend a durbar of chiefs of tribes and to visit The Wireless Cluster Junior School. The Cullinan V brooch completed the look:


This outfit resurfaced on 24 March 2000, complete with mint green jacket and the Jardine Star brooch, for a visit to Ballarat Regional Industries, Victoria, during a tour of Australia:


The Queen wore this look again on 23 July 2002, accessorizing with the Duchess of Cambridge's pearl pendant brooch, for the opening of the new London Assembly building at the City Hall:
