Dark Blue Coat with Patch Pockets and Matching Hat with Ribbon Trim

This outfit is comprised of a dark blue coat with black buttons and patch pockets with button detailing, a matching dress and a straw hat with a large central twirling ribbon motif edged in black.

The first appearance of this look came on 21 June 2008, Day 5 of the Royal Ascot horse races. It was paired with one of Queen Victoria's Bow brooches:

It was repeated the following year for a high profile occasion, the opening of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in London, on 16 October 2009, complete with the diamond and sapphire grapes brooch:

On 8 February 2010, the Queen selected just the coat and dress, plus a sumptuous silk scarf and her sapphire and diamond chrysanthemum brooch, for the train journey from King's Lynn in Norfolk back to London at the end of her Christmas holidays:

On 10 November 2011, the outfit, complete with hat, was chosen for a visit to Goodenough College, a postgraduate residence and educational trust in Bloomsbury, London. The stunning Russian diamond and sapphire brooch, a wedding gift to Princess Mary of Teck, later Queen Mary, from the Russian Empress Marie Feodorovna, was selected:

The Queen wore just the dress and coat, accessorised with Queen Victoria's sapphire and diamond brooch, to a series of Whitehall visits on 18 December 2012. As part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations, she visited first the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, then went to 10 Downing St, where she attended the Government's weekly Cabinet meeting, the first time a Monarch has done so since Queen Victoria's reign:

On 24 June 2013 the complete outfit made another appearance, at the polo final at the Guards' Polo Club in Windsor. This time, the Queen's diamond six-petal flower brooch was used:
