Grey and Black Tattersall Plaid Coat and Two Hats

This look is comprised of a black and grey tattersall plaid coat with grey fabric-covered buttons and a notched collar in block grey and grey dress with satin edging. This has been worn with at least two different hats over tim: a black straw one with a large grey farbic band around the crown and two decorative black feathers, and one covered in the same pearl grey fabric as the dress, with a spray of black wispy feathers to one side.-

The Queen wore this outfit, with the first of the two hats, on 24 November 2005, for a day of engagements in Malta, including the official opening of the Grand Harbour Marina and a tree planting ceremony at San Anton Palace. The Jardine Star brooch was worn:





On 2 September 2006, the Queen wore this coat, paired with a second hat, for the annual Braemar Highland Gathering. The gold Braemar Feather brooch was, predictably, used:



The Queen selected this coat again, this time paired with the first monochrome straw hat trimmed with large black feathers, for a service at Westminster Abbey on 27 March 2007 to mark the bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act. The Jardine Star brooch was again chosen to complement the outfit:
