Primrose Yellow Outfit with Scalloped Edges

For the National Service of Thanksgiving held at St Paul's Cathedral on 10 June 2016 to commemorate her 90th birthday, the Queen debuted a new outfit by Angela Kelly in primrose yellow, comprised of a collarless coat in a piqué fabric intricately embroidered in white, hidden fastenings and scalloped edges, matching dress (with scalloped neckline but straight bottom hem) and a hat in white sinamay, with the crown covered in plain yellow piqué fabric and the brim partially covered in the embroidered fabric, finished off with a starburst flower made up of white and yellow organdy petals and glass bead stamens (Daily Mail article here).

The Queen finished off her look with one of her 'special occasions' brooches, the Richmond brooch without pendant, a present from the town of Richmond to her grandmother Queen Mary upon her wedding to the future George V.

Primrose Yellow Angela Kelly Outfit with Organdy Trimmed Hat

This Angela Kelly look comprises a collarless coat in a primrose yellow, white and silver lightweight tweed fabric with white round buttons, a silk dress printed with oversized yellow and grey blooms on a yellow background and a hat covered in the same fabric as the coat, trimmed with sweeping yellow organdy leaves.

It was first seen on 25 June 2014, during a tour of Northern Ireland. On this occasion, the Queen visited the notorious Crumlin Road Goal in Belfast and the set of Game of Thrones. She completed her outfit with Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee pearl and diamond brooch, without pendant:

The Queen wore this outfit again, pairing it with the Queen Mother's Courtauld-Thomson Scallop Shell brooch, on 12 May 2015 for a garden party at Buckingham Palace in honour of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (Daily Mail article here):

Angela Kelly Beaded Silk Jacket and Chiffon Flounced Skirt

This is an Angela Kelly outfit made specifically for the 2010 tour of Canada. The yellow silk jacket is beaded at the collar and cuffs in a pattern devised by Ms Kelly and her team and embroidered by skilled women of the Mi'kmaq community, whose knowledge of beading goes back hundred of years.
There's a matching silk chiffon skirt in a slightly paler shade of yellow.
For the first appearance in Canada, the Queen accessorised her jacket with a brooch in the shape of a spray of enamel maple leaves.

A peek at the embroidered cuffs (the hat is by Rachel Trevor Morgan and discussed in my post here):

The look was repeated on 12 March 2012, at a reception given by the Commonwealth Secretary General at Marlborough House in London, this time accessorised with the Jardine Star brooch:

Yellow Embroidered Coat and Silk Dress with Rachel Trevor Morgan Hat

This is a truly great, sunny outfit for Her Majesty, comprised of a flower print on ivory silk dress, a pale lemon crepe coat with large embroidered blooms to one side that recall the print of the dress and buttons covered in the same silk as the dress (a lovely touch), plus a Rachel Trevor Morgan hat (much in the style of this other creation of hers) trimmed with a spray of silk flowers.

It's a look that dates back quite some time, its first appearance was way back on 20 June 2007, when the Queen attended a tea party for Eton school boys at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor. She accessorised the outfit with the Australian Wattle brooch:

We saw the look repeated on 20 November 2007, when Her Majesty was in Kampala, Uganda, for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. The Australian Wattle brooch was selected again. Below, the Queen with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni:

Then we didn't see this look for quite some time, until the Queen wore the dress by itself on 2 June 2010, to an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, during which she knighted, among other, actor Patrick Stewart:

Only a few days later, on 5 June 2010, the look was selected again for the Investec Derby Festival at Epsom, paired with the Flame Lily brooch:

A better view of the dress when the Queen removed her coat:

Later that month, on 22 June 2010, the Queen again chose this sunny yellow ensamble for a Buckingham Palace garden party. She wore the City of London Lily brooch:

After only a few days, on 27 June 2010, the hat alone was recycled for the welcome ceremony in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the start of a tour of Canada followed by a visit to New York. Admittedly, not much is visible under the raincoat the Queen wore, although in both pictures below you can just get a tiny peek of her cuffs, which belong to a yellow silk Angela Kelly jacket with beaded embroidery that was made specifically for the 2010 Canadian tour (read more about this look here):

The original outfit that goes with the hat, paired once more with the Australian Wattle brooch, was repeated again for another Buckingham Palace garden party on 26 June 2014:

Primrose Yellow for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton

For the wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton on 29 April 2011, the Queen, as could be expected, wore something new. The Palace statement described the outfit in these words: "Her Majesty The Queen is wearing an Angela Kelly designed single crepe wool primrose dress with hand sown beading at the neck in the shape of sunrays. Matching double crepe wool tailored primrose coat.
An Angela Kelly designed matching crepe hat with hand made silk roses and matching apricot coloured leaves".

For this important occasion, Her Majesty opted for a cream Launer handbag and cream shoes with bows, instead of her trademark black patent leather accessories. The appropriately-named Lover's Knot brooch, an impressive piece acquired by Queen Mary from Garrard in 1932, completed the look:

A few months after the Royal Wedding, the Queen recycled this outfit while on tour in Australia, wearing it on 23 October 2011 to attend a service at St John the Baptist Church, the oldest church in Canberra. It was a warm day and we saw just the dress being worn, without the coat, accessorised with a diamond brooch in the shape of a rose flower:

Below you can just see the beading detail around the collar of the dress:

After church, the Queen was introduced to horse trainer Bart Cummings at a lunch at the Governor General's residence in Canberra:

This is a rather grand outfit, suitable for special occasions, and it got another balcony appearance a year later, when the Queen wore it again for Trooping the Colour on 16 June 2012, with the Guards' badge usually worn on this occasion:

We saw once again the dress worn by itself on 25 December 2013, when the Queen chose to wear it for the Christmas broadcast, accessorising with the Flower Basket brooch. I thought at the time the Christmas tree in the background, trimmed with blue and gold baubles, provided the perfect backdrop for this dress:

On 3 June 2014, the outfit came out again for the second garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace. This time it was accessorised with the yellow gold Frosted Sunflower brooch and an umbrella with matching yellow trimming, against the late spring showers:
